Castelão: 31 year old vineyards.

Soil

Quinta de D. Maria: Poor soils, mainly schist.

Vinification

Harvest by hand. Gentle destemming and crushing, 48h cold skin maceration. Fermentation in stainless steel thanks, at a controlled temperature of 23ºC. Ageing in used French oak barrels for 14 months. The wine shows a vibrant attack with a lot of freshness. Very elegant, with a great texture, ending with firm tannins.
